Kameron L. Zimmer | Area Coordinator | University of South Alabama

Backed by five years of professional expertise, Kameron L. Zimmer is highly regarded for his contributions to residence life within higher education. Since 2021, he has served as an area coordinator at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, in which he directly oversaw the two largest first-year residence halls on campus, supervised 16 Resident Assistants, managed two front desks and directly supervised seven desk assistants between the two desks. Mr. Zimmer currently oversees three residence halls, supervises 12 Resident Assistants, and directly manages an area desk.
 
In earlier positions, Mr. Zimmer served Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia between 2019 and 2021 in multiple capacities, including as a Summer Facilities Project Supervisor, Event Services Intern, and Residence Hall Director while attending graduate school. In 2019, he had also gained expertise with Tri-Mac Security in Atlanta, Georgia and Neverland Farms Wedding Services in Cleveland, Georgia. While attending University of North Georgia, Mr. Zimmer served as a Resident Assistant beginning his current career in higher education.
 
Mr. Zimmer considers his proudest moment being progressively gaining more responsibility in his position, proving his skills for the job, and upholding high integrity and work ethic. He asked his supervisor why they chose him for the job, and was told they believed in his ability to take on the high amount of responsibilities. Notably, he has also received positive evaluations from his staff and supervisors, attributing his success to his perseverance. Likewise, he credits the influence of his mentor and high school teacher, Mr. Bach, for teaching him the true meaning of the phrase, “Knowledge is power.”
 
To prepare for his career journey, Mr. Zimmer earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Minor in Statistics in 2019, followed by a Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Valdosta State University in 2021. Looking toward the future, he would like to be a part of something bigger than himself, always challenging and improving himself. An active member of his community, he plays rugby in Mobile, Alabama, does volunteer work in his community, and hopes to continue to offer his community service in a greater capacity.
